Is Baaghi better than Humsafar?

Pakistani drama industry has been on a gradual descent for the last three years. While millennials now prefer to spare their time watching English TV shows, which are better in both quality and content, there still are some amazing Pakistani dramas worth a watch.

The popular Pakistani drama serial titled Baaghi filmed on the extraordinary story of Qandeel Baloch has been the talk of the town since its most awaited episode, depicting Qandeel’s appearance in Pakistan Idol Auditions, was released on Thursday, October 28, 2017.

Baaghi has constantly been among the most watched videos on Youtube (Pakistan) since its release, bagging 1 Million views for every episode. Critical acclaim for Saba Qamar’s stellar performance is being received from all parts of the country and abroad – which is very well-deserved. The question, however is ‘Has Baaghi really outperformed Humsafar?

In terms of rating, Baaghi has been performing just as well as Humsafar so far with an approximate TRP of 6.5 as of Episode 14. If evaluated on the basis of acting prowess of the entire cast, and overall impact, the drama serial has by all means left Humsafar far behind in the race. The controversy of creating a biopic of Qandeel Baloch and presenting her as a role model for females has greatly effected the reviews, nonetheless Qamar’s excellent portrayal of the lead character has pumped in the show, its life and charm.

Humsafar was an exceptionally well-written story by Farhat Ishtiaq and was effectively dramatized by HUM TV whereas Baaghi’s story is inspired by real-life events of a social media sensation Qandeel Baloch and only minor changes at some points have been made by the writers to make the show more intriguing and operatic. The dialogues if likened, turn things up a notch for Baaghi a little – mainly because of the gilt-edged direction and the cast’s outstanding delivery.
