It’s that time of the year again, with farewell parties, and grad weeks, and thesis defence-s happening left, right and center. And there’s this thing about the final year batch: they almost make everyone wish that IT was happening to them!
It will probably look like ages have passed since you first entered this university when predators (your seniors) searched for you all over NUST, and Concordia 1 was the death ground. Through the years, this university has crushed you and grinded you, claiming your best efforts. It has had you going through all kinds of rules at all levels, till you probably felt like cracking your head open with anything that came in your hand. But it is also here that you have seen some of your best moments, and have met some of the most awesome people that you can call friends for the rest of your life. And yet, when you will look back, it’ll seem that time has passed so quickly.
Because you see, everything has changed now. It is quite one thing to finish one semester, making plans to barge into your home, saying “Ammmiiii, mein pass ho gaya!”… And it is an altogether different story to finish your 8th semester. It is not going to be like all those other times, when you would pray for your summer break to come, your bones aching from the routine of your semester and your brain like a sponge that has been wrung out of all of its creativity.
But now, it is here and it is going to give you the opportunity to look at everything from a whole new perspective. There are bigger things to think about now, like how to be all serious and stuff, how to make money, and how to venture out into the world that is going to be completely different from what you have seen and experienced so far.
So, brace yourselves, because the end is coming. It’s going to be very quick, and before you know it, it’ll all be over.
Happy Graduation! (Ameen)
