A little about MCS
MCS is a co-educational constituent college of National University of Science and Technology (NUST). MCS comprises of three main educational departments namely Department of Electrical Engineering (EE), Department of Information Security (IS) and Department of Computer Software Engineering (CSE). EE department is responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the field of Telecom Engineering, CSE department is responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the field of Computer Software Engineering, IS department is responsible for postgraduate studies in the field of Information Security.
Software Engineering Program at MCS
The software engineering program at MCS is quite diverse and learning oriented, thirteen courses have been passed out and have been readily dissolved in industry. MCS givesPakistanEngineering Council accredited BE Computer Software Engineering degrees to its students which can be quite helpful for getting jobs in government and public sector. MCS software engineering graduates have occupied elite positions at several software and service companies.
Curriculum of studies

Both are good.
But by my experience NUST has more competition than FAST.
FAST has v good cirruculum, exactly designed to meet industry needs.
But i thnk NUST is still better

Yes its difficult…..you have to study many subjects from different domains as well like mathmatics, physics and electronics. Software engineering subjects are itself very tough too but dont worry it doesnt matter when you are in to it…and DEFINITELY NUST SOFTWARE ENGINEERING STUDENTS get very good job opportunities because of very good market repute….I have also completed my degree course work and doing a very good job.
what about NUST CS students do they have good job oppurtunities? As per general opinion FAST has the best CS department.
NUST CS students have very good job oppertunities…..my course mates are doing very good jobs in companies of well repute…..in Computer field there are very good jobs available so dont worry about job….if u are in NUST thats almost guarenteed.
FAST is also very good…..but still i would prefer NUST for Software Engineering

we have to send our preferences. my merit number is 1509 i selected SE as my first priority, can i switch to CS after the selection list comes?
Definitely you can switch to CS if its in your preferences list of admission form. With this merit you can qualify for both SE and CS. According to NUST website you can change your preferences till 1st of Augest through NUST website, the link is given there.
But get it confirmed because I have heard that NUST has seized degree program in CS, nw its just SE. There are two NUST campuses which are offering SE, MCS and SEECS (H-12 campus) with different merits.

Yes there are chances you get admission in Software Engineering. There are almost 250+ seats combined (MCS + SEECS) at NUST for software engineering. There are 50 percent chances you get select for SE. The merit may be announced with in a week or two..

First there is no CS at NUST, only Software Engineering at two different campuses. Your chances of selection are there in software engineering at MCS approx 50 percent In second or further merit lists.
2nd selection list will be published in around 10 days, NUST consdiers your ALL preferences but first is given weightage.

Saba there are chances of your admission in Mechatronics engineering at EME college Rwp.You are selected in Electrical telecom sofar because your merit no for first selection list lies in that range but it would change in further merit list. As far as avionics is concerned you cant get admission in that but Mechatronics is very much possible.

This amount is called ‘Application Processing Fee’, they are not refundable. Only securities are considered to be refundable and completely.
i am not sure….but i think you have to pay chalan fee to reserve your seat
but in the chalaan it is written that i have been selected in the electrical telecom engineering……………. so if i pay this and after that in the 2nd merit list i got admsn in the mechatronics …then how i will get in to this discipline because i would have already paid the chalaan for electrical telecom……..
Your selection in Telecom is provissional….In 2nd list if you get selected in Mechatronics your admission will automatically be shifted to Mechatronics because its your higher preference. You dont have to do any thing else. NUST will send a letter to you that ‘Your admission in shifted to Mechatronics’. It doesnt matter for which Program you paid the challan.

You have 70 percent chances of getting selected for Mechatronics engineering, Avionics and Aerospace have very less seats and girls are not preferred for them due to accomodation problems at Risalpur, so no chances of going to Aerospace or Avionics.
Mechanical has a much higher merit.
Telecom engineering is a good field as well. Telecom engineers now a days compete with Electrical and electronics engineers in market and there projects are mostly related to Electrical circuit desiging, signal processing and Electronic devices.
My merit’s 536 and I have been selected in software engineering -SEECS Alhamdilullah as it was my first preference. I have paid the dues on 7th august (a day before due date) but havent received any confirmation from the institution as yet. No mail! Help me out, I really need to know when will the joining instructions issued to the students. And how do I make sure that I’m getting in.

You do not need any further confirmation right now, the Bank stamped copy of your Challan form and the provissional Admission intimation letter is a proof that you are in.
The schedule will be published soon, it would be somewhere in middle or last of September, it might have not been finalized yet. But there is nothing to worry you are in.
