“Result of Undergraduate Engineering/Computer Science & Natural Sciences Programmes will be announced by Monday Evening i.e 29th August 2011″ – reads the official statement released via NUST website.
This marks the first time that the result date is being announced prior to the D-day. The move sets a good precedent but also has a down side to it. Certainly we will be witnessing an unprecedented surge in traffic at NUST webpage on 29th August along with rampant abuse of the refresh button. There are significant chances that this will precipitate the inevitable crash of the host server (NUST website).
A similar situation developed on 6th August, 2008 when the NUST website went down for hours following the announcement of result. Keeping in view the present scenario the NUST WEBSITE WOULD CRASH ON 29th AUGUST 2011 EVENING in all probability and we will have a result black out which might extend into hours depending on the volume of inbound traffic. As of 2008, it took an agonizing eight hours to recover the server and students were able to see their results at 3am at morning of 7th August 2008.

The idea behind publishing this article was NOT to degrade the NUST Admin or Students. It is just the awareness, we want to spread among the masses. We don’t want to count the Computer Engineers capabilities here. It would have been better, if you shared some positive response on the Article.

As for the article, I believe the university can easily avoid this situation with some kind of student e-mailing system. We had that for our PG admission results, not sure if e-mails would be sent out for UG as well.
