From Dreams to Reality – My Engineering life as a NUSTIAN

NUST National University of Sciences and Technology

Hearing this name from my childhood as one of the best Universities of Pakistan, I desired to study here from the same time. At last the day came and I got admission in NUST. The only thing I had in my mind at that time were “I am here to succeed, achieve, to become a pride for the nation and my parents, to become a successful of person so that I’ll be able to bring up my family and to make a mark in this world”.

Bearing all these facts in my mind I started to live my third life. NUST is an ecstasy for me and not only me, from every worker to a faculty staff, all people thinks the same. I shall start my story as a NUSTIAN in a very peppery manner. I loved and remembered each and every single moment of my life I spent here, from the day of my entry test till now.

Starting it from the day of entry test, I came here for the first time, the roads were blocked and there was hue and rush everywhere even at the main exchange of Islamabad the Highway check post. The test went well and I was satisfied by my performance and I knew that I’ll get the admission but the most interesting thing which came to mind in most of the students was that “we were going to get familiarized with the opposite gender” I was confused yet excited about the fact =P for example; a girl sat next to me in the entry test hall, It got to my nerves even I was so confused that I couldn’t even look at her, when she asked me that do I have an extra 2B pencil? Once I came out all my friends were discussing such sort of things and I was enjoying their talk a hell without participating having some strange but excited sort of feelings in the heart. Queries come to mind and vanished.

At last the day of orientation at NUST (SCEE) came; my parents gave me car and sent me to NUST on my own. I entered NUST from excited, eager to advance and start a whole new dimension of my life and praying God for my best future and prospect. The first two weeks were the most crucial and perplex time I had in here, without any friends, without any enjoyment and gratification. I used to hide in my class room to escape from seniors for being getting ragged. Once a senior batch of SCME stopped my car to rag me but I successfully evaded them by lying that “I don’t belong to this University I came here to drop my younger brother :D ” The most interesting part of 1st semester was, the only five girls in my section changed their sections to other classes and every guy out there used to go and ask them why did you people changed the section, the second part of it was the most enjoyable to me, the guys of my class started to stay for no reason and then as always the moral of the story is “Grapes are sour” :P . Well after few days everything gets settled down and the fact that we were not in a possession of actual university life style vanished.

The routine in NUST is very busy and agile paced, the time passes so quickly that you cannot imagine, now if I look back it seems to me as if I have spent a few weeks only but actually I have spent my whole two years and saved a treasure of memories worth remembering. Some are pleasant and some are sour but it gives me excitement while remembering the time I spent here with friends, while studying, enjoying in cafeterias, while arguing them on different issues and conflicts is the most valuable time for my stay at NUST. Try to be patient, agile and honest with your work. Most importantly which I always forget instead of having good grades, enjoy the success you earn with your buddies and friends instead of mourning at that you could have done better than what you got.

The most enjoyable, excited, nerves contravention and awesome rush is observed regularly after every semester, at the time the result is being getting displayed at the notice board :P . The Cheetah boys use to create rush and run as if they are the only choka boys in the campus :D . The GPA is inversely proportional to the rush of a student which it makes to get nearer the notice board :P . One of the interesting phase of learning in NUST is vocabulary enhancement :P you will learn whole lots of different words, for example the word “CHUSS”, I can write a whole book about its origin and diversity in its meaning :D  The Cafeterias of NUST being named Concordia and Concordia 2, two of the good places in NUST to spend the free time enjoying the environment out there.

The life of University is completely different and diverse you have to struggle hard to live by it. Slowly and gradually I made few friends to whom I can actually rely on, In NUST you need to behave wise while making friends and foes the reason behind is relative grading :P , the education here is of paramount standards, the life gets really tough if you start taking the studies passive you will be crunched down in the stomp of others for achieving good grades, so be dedicated towards your future and studies. Study daily and make regular changing schedules so that you don’t get bored of the routine, that’s how you can enjoy you life at NUST at its full :) . Study keeping in mind that you are second to none and work hard for the sake of that your parents have invested their lifetime raising you ;) and most important of all never have a crush while in NUST ;) I wish you guys all the best for getting into NUST. It is certainly worth of a Place to study in Pakistan! :)

it’s very good article and very true. I have suffered great during last two years while taking admission NUST college of E & ME. You have written true that we have to be wise while making friends and we should just concentrate on our grades
