Forensic Medicine – Time for Serious Work!

By -

I happily started off with my 3rd Year MBBS this Monday… Sadly it wasn’t that much fun as was predicted by all the students. Pharmacology and Pathology were taught as we were scholars already and knew every medicine name by heart!!!

I went through older post over iRnustian and saw a post by my senior : Nida Zubair…. “Forensic Department Beats FBI!”  she showed the world the brutality of forensic department along with pharmacology and pathology no less lagging behind in the  privileged ritual of providing supplees…. Taking the total number towards a half century with no struggle !!!

Today i had my very first lecture of forensic department and got the chance to meet the Known “Terror” as seniors put it, of the college…

The HEAD OF DEPARTMENT OF FORENSIC MEDICINE : Col Safdar….

To me, he seemed a very humble and reasonable man… To be honest,he throw light on the importance of Forensic Sciences in our society that i was stunned to know that how poor Pakistani law system is.. How corrupt our own doctors our who provide the patients with their desired certificate of illness or birth certificate or whatever certificate you ask for… in return of few crisp notes with Quaid’s picture over it!!!

We may see the humongous amount of supplees in the subject but we fail to see the importance of this branch of science. Pakistan being an underdeveloped country isn’t self sufficient in the department of justice and law. Doctors are looked up for the possible guidance, evidence and witness for very important cases of violence, sexual assault, murder etc.

Today Col safdar correctly said that its our sole duty to overcome the bridge between law andmedicine for the welfare of the society… Why to see uncountable cases of unknown deaths and dont perform our duty properly and prove that the field of medicine is as corrupt as any other specialty  in Pakistan.

As doctors we are stand up against the wrong and voice up the grievances of those who don’t have the power to approach the high levels of justice. We are prove the trend of bribing totally unacceptable and work as dedicated and passionate doctors!!!

If today, our HOD shows strictness to us as we are careless assuming that becoming a doctor is as easy as any other profession is a mere misconception….. Sir quoted “A doctor is not always taken as a holy personality by all” and was absolutely right quoting it… We – The next generation are to work for the betterment of our position in the society and for our motherland -Pakistan!!!

My term commander said and i agree to it “ Doctory is a profession which could be a source of salvation as well as a source of punishment for you in life Hereafter… it depends on you – what you want to do with yourself!!”

So everyone out there who are yet to become doctors, i ask each of you to think about HUMANITY first than for your personal motives of money making….

May Allah Bless Us all with the spirit of empathy and sacrifice…..  Ameen!!!

I have been reading your posts and it is essential to mention that you are a good writer. I’m basically impressed with the organisation and sequence in your writing… it’s a rare trait!
Anyways, I know you are an MBBS student at AMC but can you suggest any of your BDS friends to me? I want to know the course books and reference books for BDS. I want to know details about the uniform, shoes, etc., etc… and basically what I must and mustn’t do in order to ensure my survival at AMC 🙂
If you can help me and give me the details then I would be much obliged.
Write to me please, my email id is: javeria.nabahat@hotmail.com

    kind regards!
