Where Do I see NUST In 2020?

A Vibrant today and A Brighter Tomorrow- 2020

In the world where uncertainty surrounds human mind it’s very eccentric to think 9 years ahead from now. We today live in a world where in order to get justice a common man has to oil the mustaches of those who guard justice, we live in world where in order to get things done we need to make under the table deals, we live in a world where it’s easier to change the black into white, where accountability, integrity, self consciousness, honesty and responsibility are foreign terms. But somewhere in the same world there are institutions, people who train many others the virtues of life. Institutions no matter professional or academic have the ability to nurture the black or the white. It depends on the institution. NUST, is a small yet beautiful part of the same treacherous world, where I learnt to stand against the odds, I learnt to resist the unjust, I am made to stand for my actions. I am made to protect and guard my identity as a Pakistani. Its NUST where I have learnt to accept diversity. In a place where I have learnt almost every good thing about life how can I be pessimistic about its future. Its future shall be far brighter than its present. I feel elated with pride when I think of 9 years from now.

We the students are the output of the hard work, devotion, and perseverance of highly trained faculty. Any university is known for the product it gives out. Today NUST produces the best engineers of the world, the young charismatic youth making and inventing things to make world a better place to live. However after 9 years, I can see through my lens NUST producing the cream of the legal fraternity, top class peace builders, renowned artists, impeccable writers, and what not. It is no exaggeration that in 2020 the business graduates will surpass the standards of LUMS, and IBA, exceptional architects, public administrators, journalists, engineers, scientists, and researchers shall graduate out of NUST. We are not taught by the toppers of the world but yet from people who believe in changing the world, they are firm and devoted and hence they become successful in producing the best. When the present reflects the future than how can anyone even think of a downfall.

Today NUST is amongst the top 300 universities of the world, but after 9 years the hundredths will turn into tenths, NUST will be amongst the top 50 universities of the world. Anyone who is the part of NUST weather it be the administrative staff or the students, or the clericals, everyone here is taught

Never give up trying until you get the best.

And the institution operates on the same philosophy. NUST strives for excellence.

NUST teaches its students something that does not fathom and that is integrity, honesty and hard work. And no matter how much material prosperity we gain, these lessons of life are eternal. NUST is and shall produce the best human beings and best professionals.

By 2020, I am hopeful we shall give the new generation a completely built campus, with different schools, labs, botanical gardens, and studio’s, CSD’S, and hostels.

NUST School at DaryaKhan is a significant example that NUST, believes in educating people for the survival of this country. And the institution has over the past years strived for better and better educational facilities. School at darayakhan is one such project of NUST and in coming years many such schools will be made to enhance the educational standards, it won’t be false to imagine that by 2020 NUST shall help increase the literacy rate in Pakistan.

2020, 9 years from now and 5 years after i graduate out of NUST but yet i believe that where ever i shall be then, i shall owe my successes and achievements to this institution.  And those coming after me will enjoy a more technically advanced NUST. The future may be uncertain but it is not bleak or dark, it is vibrant and beautiful.

Good Luck Juniors!

these are your thinking but reality is something else

my suggestion for nust is that it should improve its exam secrecy to protect its existence

also don't try to underestimate other institutions i think this is enough for you

    • July 19, 2011 at 3:38 am #

Salman Thank You for your comments and giving the article a read.:)

However I would like to say that I have not tried to underestimate any other institution. And if you will read it carefully i mentioned that NUST IS ONE OF THEM, I HAVENT USED THE PHRASE THAT NUST IS THE ONLY INSTITUTION.

I acknowledge every educational institute producing the SKILLED AND CAPABLE.

I have not DELIBERATELY TRIED TO UNDERESTIMATE OR OFFEND ANYONE. Sorry! If my piece of writing has bothered someone.

We welcome the suggestions of our readers :).

This all is possible when they stop recruiting Retired Armed Forces Officers in the Administration Sections where these officers feel like they are still in Army. They treat students as if we are still under their command and we cannot question them and provide them any sort of feedback.

I do not have any doubts about their Faculty they have tremendous skills, only problem is the management, administration and Most importantly the concept of change in policies/rules etc in accordance with the Global challenges and Demands.

    • July 19, 2011 at 3:48 am #

Ahmed Abbas Thanks for the feedback :).

As A student and being the part of NUST i have never felt that being bossed around or not given a chance to question. I have observed that people welcome our feed back.we are given freedom to express ourselves COMPLETELY.

However, Nothing is perfect in this world. And we cannot learn until and unless we make mistakes.

We welcome the criticism of our readers.

nice article seeing as you've just started, but I really think you should rewrite this article after a few years at nust, and see if anything changes

    • July 20, 2011 at 5:31 am #

      Hassan! Thank You :).

And InshAllah i shall write the same article 9 years from now but still i believe in the firmness of my words and experiences.:)

          Ramal Shah! Thank You!

I do not mind criticism at all because every person has the right to disagree with my opinion. I can just provide them with a logical argument and but i cannot force them to agree to my views. Criticism makes me write BETTER! 🙂

u have commendable skill of writing ..i loved the way you turned your negative approach in the start to a positive one in such a subtle manner…there is a thing that id like to point out .. you should not have used names like lums and iba ..it could infuriate people and make you lose your professional edge

keep up d good work and wish you all the best:)
n btw i just got accepted into nust too..2nd position on merit list for archetecture!!! how cool is that!!:D

I have visited NUST and have visited LUMS many times. NUST has the edge with its AMAZING CAMPUS, but the sort of environment at LUMS is not a productive one. The best of institutes promote freedom of thought, and I don’t see that in NUST. NUST has dictatorial policies and a air of militia.
