With the collaboration of NBS Debating Society and Youth for Peace, Intra-NBS Speech Competition 2010 was held at Seminar Hall, NUST Business School on the 29th of April. The event, being the first of its kind in the history of NBS, provided students with a platform to reflect, realize and put forth their views in the best possible manner. The proceedings begin at 12 p.m. with an enlightening and thought-provoking video. What followed was a series of absorbing debates highlighting varied ideas. The participants spoke in both English and Urdu on the following topics:
Peace: A Utopian Concept (English)
Amman Aik Khiyal-e-Bayeed (Urdu)
The existence of peace in the contemporary deteriorating conditions is that of a small patch of absolute greenness endlessly engulfed by barrenness. The event encouraged students to devise a practical plan to make the dream of peace a reality. Moreover, it provided them with the opportunity to speak-out, to listen-in and to form constructive opinions. All in all, it was a good event, though conducted on a small scale. Zainab Ahmad, Amana Jehan and Ahmad Hussain received the first, second and third prize respectively. The judges included Mr. Salman Latif, Mr. Haider Mairaj and Ms. Izzat Jehan.
